What are some good free alternatives to Chrome Remote Desktop and AnyDesk?

Hey everyone! A while back, I stopped using TeamViewer because it got too pricey and switched over to AnyDesk. While the transition was okay, I've noticed that the file transfer speeds can be pretty slow, and there are some annoying delays. Although I might tolerate this if AnyDesk was free, I feel like it's not really worth the price I'm paying. I'm on the lookout for some good free alternatives. Ideally, I want something that has a really simple client connection and delivers reliable data transfer speeds. I did give Chrome Remote Desktop a shot, but honestly, it's just not cutting it for what I need. Any suggestions?

If you're specifically looking at AnyDesk, the file transfer is much quicker if you connect just for that and skip remote desktop view. Right-click on the remote computer and choose 'Browse Files.' Alternatively, MeshCentral is awesome if you’re okay with self-hosting, but it might not excel in file transfers like you’re hoping.

Action1 is another option! It uses RDP on the backend, and file transfers are pretty straightforward. Just say its name a few times, and Gene Moody might show up with a carrier pigeon to help! Just watch out; he tends to leave a mess on cars!

Have you considered RustDesk? It’s pretty much like AnyDesk without the extra cost. Keep in mind that it doesn't have shared address book functionality, but the quality is really good!

For personal or family support, I use RemotePC. It's reasonably priced and I've never faced any performance issues with it.

You might want to check out RustDesk; it's open-source and free with solid file transfer capabilities. DWService is web-based and super easy to set up. Also, Parsec is known for fast remote access, especially good for screen sharing. All three are great free alternatives to try out!
