I'm a bootcamp graduate who's been self-studying DevOps after working in service desk for some time. I've completed several projects that I believe are pretty solid, but I'm struggling to land my first role due to the competitive job market. I've covered a lot of ground, including Linux, Terraform certification, AWS, Docker, networking, Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Grafana. However, I realize I lack production experience, which might be holding me back. I would really appreciate any brutal honesty and tips on breaking into the industry. I'm also looking for advice on approaching LinkedIn connections. If anyone's up for a quick look at my GitHub, I'd be grateful!

Have you considered applying for Level 4 DevOps apprenticeships? A friend of mine did one and ended up with a permanent contract after 18 months. It can be a great way to get your foot in the door!
Networking on LinkedIn can really make a difference. Instead of just connecting with recruiters, try reaching out to industry professionals. Engage with their posts, share your projects, and join relevant groups. Sometimes leaving a thoughtful comment can open doors to opportunities. Don't forget to tailor your profile summary to showcase your specific skills and projects!
I'd be happy to check out your GitHub! I’m self-taught too, so I totally get how you feel! Let me know if you have the link ready.
Sure! Here it is: github.com/maaclin.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
I actually have a Level 5 already, so I’m not sure if they’ll fund me for that. I might be past the scope for the apprenticeship!
