I'm in the process of building a new PC and recently picked up a Ryzen 5 9600X for $165 during Prime Day. With the recent price drops for the i5 14600K, and considering that it comes bundled with Battlefield 6 (which I plan to get eventually), I'm wondering if the performance difference is significant enough to warrant switching to the Intel platform. I'm pairing this setup with a 9060XT 16GB GPU, and my goal is to game at 1440p. Does the 14600K outperform the 9600X for gaming, or are they pretty much on par? I'm not too concerned with future upgrade possibilities, nor will I use this PC for heavy production work.

For what you’re aiming to do, I think the 9600X is a solid choice. While the 14600K performs slightly better, the upgrade potential of AM5 means you could swap in a newer CPU in a couple of years without changing the entire setup. So you could get a lot of mileage out of your investment!
Honestly, if you got a good deal on the 9600X, you can't go wrong with it. The performance is pretty comparable, especially with the GPU you have. The i5 14600K may show a bit of an edge in some games, but for general gaming, the difference isn't huge. Just make sure you're aware that the 14600K might require a better cooler, so factor that in if you go that route!
