I'm considering getting a 7800X3D processor, but I'm confused about which GPU to choose. I've heard a lot about options like the 5070 Ti, 9070 XT, and the upcoming 5070 Super. I'd love to know the advantages of going with an AMD GPU versus an Nvidia one and get a ranking of the best GPUs to pair with the 7800X3D, keeping price in mind. A ranking like this would be ideal:
1st: 9070 XT
2nd: 5070 Ti
3rd: 4080 Super
4th: 9070
And any others you might recommend. I'm pretty clueless about GPUs, so any help would be appreciated!

Honestly, I just built my rig using the 7800X3D and went for a 5080 after some bad experiences with an AMD card. The 7900XT had too many issues for me, and I found the 5080 to offer a much smoother experience. That said, if you're looking at prices, the 5070 Ti is still a great contender if you don’t need the top-end stuff. Just be mindful of how much VRAM you’ll actually use for your games.

What exactly does more VRAM help with anyway?

If you want top-notch ray tracing and exceptional upscaling, Nvidia is the way to go, especially with DLSS on their side. That said, AMD GPUs usually give you more bang for your buck in raw performance. For a solid choice, consider the 9070 XT or the 5070 Ti depending on your budget and needs. Remember, if you’re playing at lower resolutions, don’t overspend on features you won’t use!

I still don’t get what DLSS and ray tracing really mean, though.

Yeah, I’m kinda lost on those terms too!
