Is Upgrading from a 5600X Worth It or Should I Wait for a Full Build?

After a decade of gaming, I've got some experience but I'm not very familiar with the details of PC components. Currently, I have an AMD 5600X processor paired with an AMD 6700 XT graphics card and 16GB of 3200MHz RAM. I believe my motherboard, the MSI B550 A Pro, is AM4 compatible and is one of the best options for that CPU.

I'm considering whether it would be worth upgrading to a better CPU like the 5800X or 5800X3D right now, or if I should wait to save up for a complete upgrade including a new motherboard and RAM for the newer AM5 platform. Money is tight, so if getting a new CPU with my current setup is a feasible option, that would be ideal. Additionally, is Amazon a reliable source for PC parts, or should I stick with Newegg?

Honestly, your CPU can handle much more powerful GPUs than the 6700XT, so focus on upgrading your RAM first—32GB would be a nice upgrade. Your CPU is good enough for most applications, so instead of jumping into a new CPU, you might want to consider a higher-end GPU for better performance in demanding games.

I see—so it's really about balancing my components! If I can get solid FPS at 1440p on most games, then maybe the RAM upgrade is the way to go while I save up for a better GPU.
