Help! My New Lenovo Laptop Has a Blinding White Light Issue

Hey everyone! I'm new here and just received a Lenovo laptop (not sure of the model) from the government to help with my disability. It's running Windows 11, and overall, I'm loving it! However, I've encountered a pretty annoying problem: there's this intense white light coming from the bottom of the screen that I just can't handle. I've tried calibrating the display color, but that hasn't helped at all. This is my first laptop issue like this—my previous laptop worked perfectly for four years without any display problems. I'll try to post a picture or video in the comments since it's hard to describe exactly what's happening. I really need your advice because I start university next week, and I need to figure out if I should send it back or not. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a frustrating issue! When you say there's white light at the bottom of the screen, do you mean it's a glare or a weird backlight? If it's not a hardware issue, some settings might help. It's a good idea to check the Brightness settings and see if the Display settings can be adjusted further. Also, make sure your Windows updates are all set, as they sometimes include fixes for display problems. Let me know if you post a picture; that might help figure out what’s going on!

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions! I’ll check those settings and update if I have a picture.

Before you send it back, try a simple reset of your display settings. Sometimes, just reverting to default settings can fix odd light issues. But definitely keep an eye on it; if it gets worse or doesn't improve with adjustments, returning it might be the way to go. Best of luck with your new laptop and your studies!

It could also possibly be a hardware defect, especially since this is a new laptop. If recalibrating the display doesn't do anything, I recommend contacting Lenovo's support. They might have specific troubleshooting steps for your model. Given that you start university soon, it might be best to send it back quickly if it's broken. Better to sort it out now than deal with it later during the semester!
