Why does my PC show no internet connection when I can access the web?

I've noticed that the internet icon on my PC shows that I'm disconnected, even though I can browse the web just fine. It's a bit confusing! Also, my system clock is always a minute behind, and I'm concerned this might be a sign of a bigger issue. Could anyone explain why this happens?

Your issue might be linked to some interference from a VPN, DNS filtering on your router, or even a firewall or antivirus settings. Windows needs to send out some network tests to check for actual connectivity, and if it can't reach those servers, it'll trigger that no internet status. Also, the time being out of sync points to possible communication blocks.

Try checking your registry settings. Press Win + R, type "regedit", and hit enter. Once you're in the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesNlaSvcParametersInternet. Look for the EnableActiveProbing setting and make sure its value is set to 1. After that, restart your computer. This might help fix the display issue, although it might not address the underlying problem completely.
