Is My Rx580 + i7 4790 + 16GB RAM Build Good for Gaming?

I'm considering building a PC and already have several parts from my old setup that I can reuse, which helps save on costs. I want to play games released from 2017 onwards, as I've missed out on a lot due to not having a decent GPU. The configuration I'm looking at—an Rx580, an i7 4790 processor, and 16GB of RAM—is the most affordable option I've found. Initially, I budgeted around $230 but can now allocate about $115 elsewhere. However, if I choose a significantly better GPU, I might need to upgrade my motherboard, power supply, and processor, which could push my budget too high. Any advice?

Honestly, that setup might not be great for playing the latest games. It should handle older titles or casual games (like Fortnite) at 1080p just fine. But if you're aiming for a good experience with modern games, you’d probably need to consider newer parts altogether for a better performance. Just a fact: You're gonna hit some serious bottlenecks with that CPU and GPU combination.

I just want to catch up on games from the past few years. By the time I finish these, I can save to upgrade for the latest titles!

But I'm aiming to create a solid foundation for future upgrades.

You can still enjoy a huge library of PC games with that setup. If you're okay with playing on low settings or 720p resolution sometimes, you might be pleasantly surprised by the performance you can get from the Rx580 and the i7 4790. Just don’t expect to run the latest AAA titles at top settings.

I’m not really into the latest AAA games. I’m more into casual ones like Uncharted 4 and Assassin's Creed Origins. This setup might just work for me.

With an 11-year-old CPU and an 8-year-old GPU, you'll definitely have limitations. Just out of curiosity, which country are you in?

I live in India.

Yeah, I've seen others running newer games on similar setups, so I'm hopeful!
