I'm setting up an office at home and want to connect three computers (two Macs and one PC) along with a printer. The tech just left, and I realized I'm not sure what equipment I really need. They have these Eero devices for WiFi, which also come with a single CAT-5 port. Should I buy an ethernet switch to plug into the Eero, a router, or something completely different? Any advice would be appreciated!

An unmanaged switch usually works great for basic needs. However, you might also consider a multi-port router. They can handle all the routing tasks while giving you extra features, and some even help eliminate the need for mesh extenders, depending on your house size. Remember to set your Eero to bridge mode if you choose a router.
Definitely go for an unmanaged ethernet switch. They're straightforward and cost-effective if all you need is to connect multiple wired devices.
Make sure that your Eero is hardwired to your network; otherwise, hardwiring devices to the Eero won't give you a true wired connection since it will still rely on the wireless connection for internet access.
Great question. It is hardwired though. Thanks!
If you just need to add more devices, a switch is the easiest and cheapest option. But if you are thinking of expanding your network functionalities later on, a router would be necessary for more complex setups.
Just to double-check, are you definitely looking to use wired connections instead of wireless?
Yes, I prefer wired!
If you're not planning to set up separate networks, a switch should do fine. Just connect it to the Eero’s LAN port and you’ll be set!

Perfect, thank you!
