How Can I Wipe My Old Work Macbook to Give It a New Life?

Hey everyone! A couple of years back, I left my job after my company got acquired by a strictly Windows-oriented firm. They instructed me to just toss my work Macbook when I returned my gear, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, so I stored it in the basement. Now, while cleaning out the house for a move, I found the Macbook. It still turns on, but I can't access it since it asks for old network credentials that I no longer have. Is there any way to wipe it clean so I can give it to my wife? If not, I guess I'll just have to recycle it after all! Thanks!

You should be able to boot it in recovery mode, wipe the drive, and then reinstall the OS. It’s usually pretty straightforward!

Maybe consider letting someone experienced with Macs take a stab at it. They might run into some hiccups, but it could be worth a try! If you're unsure, you could share the serial number from the bottom for more tailored advice (and don't worry, sharing the serial number is safe).

Honestly, Macs are pretty easy to reset. If you know even a little about tech, you could probably handle it yourself without anyone else’s help.

I can share the serial number once I'm back home from work later!
