I'm set to install a Linux distro tomorrow and I'm torn between sticking with Ubuntu, which I've been trying out, or switching to ZorinOS, which has caught my attention. Zorin has some appealing marketing and a cool backstory with its name. I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one might be better for a newbie like me!

I'd advise against ZorinOS since it’s based on an older version of Ubuntu (22.04). We’re in 2025 now, and there’s been a significant gap since Ubuntu 24.04 LTS was released. Delays like that raise some concerns about staying updated. Plus, Ubuntu’s recent push towards Snaps can be frustrating for users, especially regarding privacy.
Both Ubuntu and ZorinOS are often recommended for beginners, alongside Mint. Zorin is user-friendly, but I’m not sure if it has as robust a system control tool as Ubuntu. Make sure to check if it can manage suspended services effectively before making your decision!
