Experiencing Performance Issues After Upgrading to 5700X3D

Hey everyone, I recently made the switch from a Ryzen 5600X to a 5700X3D, hoping for better stability and maybe a slight FPS boost in my games. Unfortunately, I'm still dealing with stutters and low frame rates—in fact, the issues seem worse! In games like Wukong and Dead Space Remake, the stutters persist, and I've noticed about a 20 FPS drop in Hunt Showdown. I've checked the BIOS and everything seems in order with my RAM configuration. I'm running a 4070 Super along with 32GB of Vengeance RAM on an Asus Strix B450F gaming motherboard. Before I resort to reinstalling Windows, is there anything else I should check?

First up, have you confirmed that XMP is enabled for your RAM? Upgrading your CPU can sometimes reset BIOS settings to default, so it's wise to redo any tweaks like enabling XMP, adjusting fan curves, and turning on Resizable BAR if you haven't already. You might want to look at those settings.

Yes, I updated the BIOS during the upgrade and made sure to tweak everything except for the fan curves.

If you're still facing stutters, remember that faster CPUs don’t necessarily eliminate stuttering. They can reduce the severity, but if you're running capped framerates, a higher unlocked framerate can often make stutters more noticeable. Also, have you checked the XMP settings? Make sure they're enabled and working properly.

You might want to try a clean uninstall and reinstall of the chipset drivers from the motherboard's support page. Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve strange performance issues.

Make sure your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers are fully updated. After that, try running the command "sfc /scannow" in CMD as an admin to check for any file integrity issues in Windows. You might also want to run "chkdsk /f /r" for disk integrity. Don't forget to close unnecessary background processes and check your startup programs to optimize performance during gaming.
