Hey folks,
I've been struggling with my PC's performance for a while now and think it's time for a complete overhaul. My current specs are a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard, and G.Skill Trident Z Neo RAM at 3600 MHz CL18. I'm looking at upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7700, ASRock B650 HDV motherboard, and Patriot Viper Venom RAM at 6000 MHz CL30. The total cost would be €420 for everything, which is the best deal I could find in the Netherlands.
I'm mainly considering this upgrade for better workstation performance, especially since I need the extra M.2 slots on the new motherboard. However, I have some concerns:
1. Is this upgrade worth the money compared to what I currently have?
2. I've heard that running DDR5 at 6000 MHz may lead to stability issues—should I be worried?
3. Are there any potential problems with this specific combination?
I'd really appreciate any insights or advice!

Honestly, I'd steer clear of ASRock for the AM5 setup. You might have better luck with an MSI or ASUS board instead. They generally have better reliability and support.
I think this combo is a solid choice, and you should see a noticeable improvement in performance! While there have been some issues with ASRock boards in the past (especially with certain CPUs), the Ryzen 7 7700 should be fine. The jump from Ryzen 5 to Ryzen 7 is definitely worth it for workstation tasks.
Yeah, but be careful. There have been reports of failures with other Ryzen models on ASRock boards, so it's worth keeping an eye on it.
Don't worry about the DDR5 6000 MHz—it's pretty solid! I’ve been running mine without any issues. Just make sure you're not going with ASRock for the reasons others mentioned. MSI or GIGABYTE would be better choices for your setup.
I found a good deal on a MSI B840 GAMING PLUS and can get it with a Ryzen 7 7700 for around €345. Is that a decent setup, or should I keep looking?
Any recommendations for alternatives? I'm considering a combo deal with either ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus or MSI B650 Gaming Plus, both of which are slightly pricier at around €365.
