SSD Is Recognized in BIOS But Not Showing in Windows After Win11 Update

I recently updated to Windows 11 and, like a genius, I forgot to back up my important files. My E: drive, which has my RDR2 save file, still shows up in the BIOS under the M2 tab, but I can't find it anywhere in Windows itself. I've explored Device Manager, Disk Management, and Storage Spaces, and even spent an hour trying various fixes from forums, like updating the SATA controller driver and running some command prompts without finding any issues. Everything else on my system runs smoothly, so I'm stuck. What can I do next to recover my drive?

Have you tried using the Diskpart command? You can open the Command Prompt, run "diskpart", then "list disk" to see if Windows recognizes it at all. This command might give you more insight into what's happening with the disks on your system.

Looks like it's showing three drives: one 225GB SSD, one 2TB HDD, but the 500GB SSD is missing. Any idea why it would show up in BIOS but not in Windows?

It sounds like your issue might be related to the storage driver for your motherboard. If your M.2 drive is in RAID mode in the BIOS, Windows won’t recognize it unless you install the correct driver. Try updating the storage driver from the motherboard manufacturer's site. If that doesn’t work, you could put the SSD in an external USB enclosure to see if another computer can access your files. Backing up your data is important before making any more changes.

That's solid advice! I ran into a similar issue once, and using an external enclosure helped me salvage my files. I felt much better after securing my data before making any big changes.
