I recently got a second-hand PC from a friend, which had crashing issues. Another friend of his rearranged the RAM sticks, and that seemed to fix the problem for a while. However, the issues returned, and now that I have the PC, I tried rearranging the RAM sticks again. After that, the PC turns on, but the monitor doesn't display anything (by the way, the monitor is brand new, so it's not an issue on that end). When I put the RAM sticks back to their original positions, the PC powers on, but still nothing happens. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong and how I can fix this?

Did you remember to take anti-static precautions when handling the RAM? It can cause issues if discharged.
Make sure the RAM sticks are installed in the correct slots according to your motherboard's manual. It's often crucial to use the right slots for dual-channel configuration. Also, try clearing the CMOS, just to reset the BIOS settings and see if it helps.
If your PC has powered on, try running Memtest from a flash drive to check for faulty RAM. It can help identify which stick might be causing problems.
Are all your RAM sticks the same model? If you’re mixing sizes or brands, that could cause issues. Ideally, you should have matching sticks.
It might be an issue with electric discharge damage—if you touched the golden pins, they might not be conducting properly anymore. You can usually tell if something's wrong by visual inspection, and if the RAM doesn’t work, you might need to get new sticks.
Double-check that each RAM stick is firmly seated in its slot. Sometimes they look like they're in correctly, but aren't fully clicked in.
