Hey everyone! I'm considering buying a 5700X3D from eBay, and I found one for about $288, labeled as an open box item. The seller has a good reputation with 94% positive feedback from around 7,000 transactions, but I'm still feeling a bit uncertain about the whole thing. I'm based in Hungary, which is why the price is in HUF.
I'm currently looking to upgrade from a 5500 and initially thought about getting a 5700X to hold me over until I can switch to AM5 in a few months. However, the price for the 5700X in Hungary has gone up by about $25, which is a significant increase for me.
What I really want to know is if buying CPUs from eBay is worth it. Has anyone had experience with purchasing CPUs from there? I'm eager to achieve smooth gameplay and decent frame rates on my 240Hz monitor, plus want to ensure longevity with my upgrade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads up, upgrading your CPU alone might not get you the frame rates you want. CPUs help with smoothing out FPS, and they can affect your overall performance, but your GPU is really key for higher FPS, especially at higher resolutions. Can you share what GPU you're currently using? That'll help narrow down if a CPU upgrade will actually help!
I haven't bought a CPU from eBay, but I did snag a used motherboard that turned out to be in fantastic condition, so it can work out well! Just make sure to check the seller’s feedback thoroughly.

I've been playing competitive games like CS2 and R6, which are CPU-heavy and prefer a good amount of L3 cache. I’ve got a 6600 XT and get around 180 FPS on average. I know CPU power can be crucial for my goals, and I've researched a ton on this!
