I just updated my Ubuntu installation, and after rebooting, I lost Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and my trackpad isn't working at all. My laptop is a 2019 Razer Blade Stealth, and I'm running Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get everything back up and running?

If you’re using BTRFS, make sure to take snapshots before any updates in the future. It could save you a lot of hassle!

So, you mean I should switch to BTRFS for my filesystem during the fresh install? Is it better than Ext4 for this kind of situation?

Have you considered booting into an older kernel? Sometimes, new updates can cause issues with specific hardware, and the old kernel might work just fine for you. You can find it in the boot menu under 'advanced options'.

Did you have Timeshift running before the update? If so, you might be able to roll back to a previous snapshot. If not, you might need to consider a fresh install, but make sure you back up your important files first!

I didn’t use Timeshift, but I can still access everything through my graphic tablet, which is working fine in Wayland. Do you think a fresh install is the way to go? If so, which directories should I back up to make the switch smoother?

Have you tried rebooting a few times? I had a similar issue where Wi-Fi would just drop out randomly, but a couple of reboots seemed to fix it for me. It might be worth a shot!

Thanks for the tip! I’ve rebooted around 20 times using both Wayland and Xorg, but no luck. I even tried connecting to the internet via USB with my phone, but nothing seems to work.
