My Laptop Won’t Turn On After a Power Outage – Any Solutions?

I'm having a major issue with my laptop. It suddenly stopped working after the power went out for about 30 seconds and came back on. I've tried using three different chargers that I know are good, held the power button for a full 60 seconds, and even disconnected the battery to try starting it up without it. Nothing seems to work, and I really can't afford to lose this laptop because it has all my schoolwork and games on it. Any advice on what I can do?

I agree, it sounds like there could be an issue with the motherboard. Usually, when it fails, it doesn't behave nicely. But if you can access the hard drive, you may still be fine to get your data back. Good luck!

Have you checked if there’s a reset hole on your laptop? Some models, like certain Lenovo laptops, have a little reset pinhole that you can use to reset the device. Just a thought!

I actually have an HP Victus, so I'm not sure if that helps.

I’ve seen this happen on older laptops too. It often means the motherboard is done for, but sometimes just a specific component fails, which can be cheaper to fix. How old is your laptop? You might still have a chance.

It sounds like there might be something more serious going on with your motherboard since you’ve done all the basic troubleshooting. If you haven't already, try holding the power button down without both the battery and the charger connected. It might help reset something, but I’m not too optimistic about it. If the motherboard is fried, you could still potentially recover your data from the hard drive.

That's tough! If you’re not wanting to buy a new laptop, maybe check with a local shop about repairs. Sometimes they can fix specific issues without replacing the whole thing.
