What should I do with my Surface Tablet that has a swollen battery?

I just found out that my Microsoft Surface Tablet has what people are calling a 'spicy pillow,' which I gather means the battery is swollen. I'm not used to dealing with devices like this; typically, my older rechargeable gadgets just die without any warning. Since the tablet still works and could serve as a decent PC, I want to handle this correctly until I can get it repaired. I know I should unplug it and keep it away from me for safety, but what's the next step? I can't help but feel like this thing is a ticking time bomb right next to my bed!

Sounds like you're not having the best luck! I've had my gaming PC issues, too, but it’s rough when everything seems to fail at once.

If you can, go ahead and remove the battery and put it outside in a safe area away from anything flammable, maybe even bury it in sand. If you can't remove it, just make sure to place the whole tablet somewhere safe, like in a fireproof container or metal can (leave the lid off) and away from living spaces. Safety first!

Definitely unplug it and get it to a fire-safe location! Just avoid puncturing it to prevent any accidents.

What is even a spicy pillow?

It's basically a swollen battery that could blow up any second! I managed to get mine out using a hairdryer to weaken the adhesive holding the device together. Lost the screen in the process, but I can still use it as a mini PC now!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Sounds intense!
