How to Fix BSOD After Enabling VMD Controller on My New Asus Laptop?

I recently installed Windows 11 on my Asus ROG Strix G16 laptop, but I'm facing a big issue with the VMD (Virtual Memory Device) controller. When I enable the VMD controller in BIOS, my system crashes with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The only way I can boot up is by keeping the VMD controller disabled, but that slows down performance significantly, making my laptop feel like it's running on an HDD instead of SSDs. I've cleaned installed Windows 11 but seem to have messed things up by not having the VMD enabled originally. I've also tried to find the right IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver but couldn't locate one that works for my model. I really need the VMD controller enabled for my planned storage upgrade, but I'm not sure if this is a software issue or a hardware failure. I'm pretty new to PC tech, so any detailed steps or guidance would be super helpful!

It sounds like you need the appropriate VMD drivers (IRST) for your motherboard. You can't just enable it after Windows installation; you have to load those drivers at the time of the install. Check out the Asus support page for your model to get the drivers. Here’s a link I found for the IRST drivers: [Asus IRST Drivers](https://rog.asus.com/uk/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-g16-2023-series/helpdesk_download/). If you install the drivers while VMD is enabled, it should work properly!

I tried installing the IRST driver from Asus but it didn't solve the BSOD issue. Any other suggestions?
