Is My GPU Ready for an OLED Monitor?

Hey everyone! I'm considering switching to an OLED monitor after seeing some in person, specifically the Asus XG27ACDNG, especially since it's on sale for September. I currently have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and an Asus Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU. My power supply is a Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2, but I've noticed it only has two 8-pin PCIe cables for the GPU, while the card has three slots. Right now, I've plugged one cable directly into one slot and the other cable into the two remaining slots. My concern is whether this setup will handle 1440p gaming at refresh rates above 240Hz without causing strain on my card or cables. Should I consider getting a new PSU that provides three cables? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

OLED monitors won’t change how your GPU works; it’s all about resolution and refresh rates. I run 4K on a similar setup and have had no issues. If your setup maintains proper power distribution, you should be fine!

Thanks for clarifying that! It's good to know the monitor type doesn't affect performance directly.

Yeah, you should definitely be okay. The 9070 XT is more than capable of handling 1440p at high refresh rates. Just ensure that each connection is stable. If things still concern you, upgrading to a PSU with three separate cables could eliminate any risk, but it sounds like you’re set!

That makes sense! I appreciate the advice and will consider the PSU upgrade if needed.

Honestly, your power situation sounds alright. If you have two connectors plugged in and it's working, you should be fine. Just keep an eye on your GPU temperatures while gaming, and you’ll be golden!

Good point! I’ll monitor the temps when I start gaming. Thanks for the tip!

Your setup sounds fine! As long as your GPU is powered correctly, you shouldn’t have a problem running an OLED. Just make sure not to cross any connectors, as that could lead to issues. But overall, you should be good to go for 1440p at high refresh rates!

Thanks for the reassurance! It's a relief to hear I'm on the right track.
