My dad has been using his old Dell with a Core 2 Duo E8400 for over a decade, mainly for web browsing, checking emails, and watching YouTube. Unfortunately, it finally gave up the ghost and won't boot at all. I'd like to find a replacement that can last another 10 years without breaking the bank. I'm considering building a new PC with a Ryzen 5 5600G since it has integrated graphics that should cover everything he needs. Here's the rough build I'm thinking of:
- Ryzen 5 5600G
- ASRock B450M PRO4
- 16GB DDR4-3200 (likely a bit excessive, but the prices are good)
- 500GB WD Blue SN570 NVMe
- A basic case with a PSU combo from EVGA
I have a budget of about $400-$450 to make this happen. Do you think this setup is sufficient for basic tasks, or am I overlooking something? I'm also contemplating whether I should just buy a prebuilt system, but I'm eager to try building one myself since I've never done it before. I'd love to get your thoughts!

You might want to consider just grabbing a $150 mini PC instead. If he's been using a Core 2 Duo, anything like an N100/N150 mini PC will be a massive upgrade and use way less power. If you're interested, there's one I've been using as a Plex server that works great!

Yeah, for basic tasks like browsing and streaming, the N150 is pretty decent. It even runs some older games like GTA V at lower settings, so it's more than enough for what he's doing.
