Help! My PC Got Water Damaged—Can I Save It?

So, here's what happened: my cat knocked over my water cup right onto the top vent of my PC, which has an AIO cooler on it. I unplugged it immediately and tried to take it apart. After that, I used a hair dryer to dry everything off. But later, when I put it back together and tried to power it on, it wouldn't start. I just learned that using a hair dryer might have been a bad idea due to heat and static electricity. Now I'm wondering, did the hair dryer damage my PC, or was it just my impatience in not letting it dry for a few days? I'm currently letting the whole thing dry out again—what are my chances of it working again?

Definitely sounds like water damage might be the bigger problem here. If you're seeing a shiny area with a purple tint on the motherboard, that's not a good sign. It's likely that water has affected that component. Just cross your fingers and let it dry out before making any decisions about repairs.

You really need to fully disassemble your PC and look for any standing water. Dry everything thoroughly with a fan, not just a hair dryer. The water is probably more likely to be the cause of the issue rather than the hair dryer itself. Make sure you give it enough time to dry completely! You might even want to wait a couple of days just to be safe.

Absolutely, give it at least two days to dry out completely. I had a similar issue before, and waiting did the trick for me! Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I'm really hoping the waiting part saves my PC.
