Can my parents access my messages through our shared iCloud account?

I'm 18 and a bit concerned about my privacy. We all use iCloud+ and have family sharing set up, so I want to know if my parents can see my messages from my apps. I just want to make sure that at least some of my personal stuff isn't accessible to them.

Yes, if you all share the same Apple account, then they can see everything. But if you have separate accounts linked through family sharing, they can't see your messages unless they have access to your passwords and accounts. Just be cautious with what you connect!

If you can’t see their messages, then they won’t see yours. It works both ways!

If you're using family sharing but not sharing the same Apple ID, then you're in the clear. They shouldn't be able to access your messages since that's tied to your personal account. Just double-check that you’re not using the same login for iCloud.

It really depends on the app you’re using. For example, if you're using the default messaging app, they might see your stuff. But for apps like Discord or Messenger, it’s a different story. Just keep your passwords secure and consider getting your own account to be safe!
