Is My PC Ready for Windows 11, or Should I Upgrade?

I've been sticking with Windows 10 for a while now, but with Windows 11 on the horizon, I discovered that my current setup with an AMD R5 5600X and Radeon RX 6700 XT isn't compatible. I've been out of the PC building scene since 2021 and I need some advice.

Are there any tricks or workarounds to upgrade my existing rig to make it eligible for Windows 11?

If that's not possible, I'm considering building a new rig while keeping my current GPU to save some cash. My 6700 XT should be plenty for games like Slay the Spire and Civ VI. My current setup is an ITX case, but I might switch to ATX if I build something new. Also, should I go with AMD again for my CPU, or is Intel a reasonable option these days?

By the way, I managed to repair my C drive and used the Windows 11 Installation Assistant, which successfully got me upgraded! Thanks for everyone's help!

Make sure to run that PC health check! It helps identify if there are any BIOS settings that need tweaking. For instance, some users found that enabling TPM resolved their compatibility issues. And hey, if your SSD is formatted as MBR, converting it to GPT might help too!

Thanks for the heads-up! I had no idea there was a difference between MBR and GPT formatting.

You should also consider looking into the basics—like secure boot settings in your BIOS. That can often be the fix! Personally, I switched on my SOC-related settings and that got me moving! If you’re not ready for the jump to 11 yet, there’s no rush. Just make sure you have a backup!

I was in the same boat as you! My PC health check said I was good to go, but the Windows Update didn’t show it. I had to use the Installation Assistant from Microsoft's site to get the upgrade. Turns out, my SSD’s MBR format was the culprit! After converting it to GPT, everything worked like a charm.

Your Ryzen 5600X is fully compatible with Windows 11! Just check if your BIOS settings need adjusting. Sometimes, settings related to TPM (Trusted Platform Module) can prevent compatibility too. It might even surprise you to know how easy it can be to get your current rig ready without a complete rebuild. Just run the PC health check tool to pinpoint any potential issues!

Really? That’s good to know! I thought the new TPM requirements were a big deal for older setups.
