I recently bought a Gigabyte A520 AORUS ELITE motherboard, but the shipping box arrived damaged. They didn't even package it properly; they just put a sticker on the box and sent it. There's no safety lock on the box, so it could have opened up during transit. The box looks like it was tossed around a bit and appears to have been opened before. The motherboard itself was still sealed, but the plastic bag had a piece of tape closing it, and I'm not sure if that was the original tape or not. When I inspected the motherboard, I found a minor scratch on one of the heatsinks. Returning it seems like a hassle, and I don't have a way to test the board. So, what do you think are the chances the motherboard is damaged? I bought it new from Gigabyte, fulfilled by Amazon, and I'd hate to feel like I got ripped off.

It sounds like there's a chance the motherboard could be fine even with the box being damaged. If the motherboard was sealed and you didn't see any obvious damage beyond that scratch, it might just be cosmetic. However, scratches can sometimes indicate rough handling, so I’d be a bit cautious. If possible, try to test it out when you can, or get in touch with customer service just to cover your bases.
I had a similar experience with a motherboard before, and surprisingly it worked fine. A little scratch isn’t usually a dealbreaker unless it affects something crucial. Just keep an eye on it once you get it powered on! But yeah, if you’re worried, definitely consider contacting support.
