Why is my WiFi speed on Epic Games Launcher different from Task Manager?

Hey everyone! I'm currently trying to download a game using the Epic Games Launcher, and I've noticed something odd with my internet speeds. The launcher seems to be showing a download speed of about 5 Mbps, but when I check the Performance tab in Task Manager, it says my internet connection is actually around 15-20 Mbps. I don't have any other apps running that would be using the internet, so I'm a bit confused. Can anyone shed some light on why this discrepancy is happening and if there's anything I can do to fix it? Thanks a ton!

Another thing to consider is that sometimes the download speed can fluctuate because of how different applications handle bandwidth. The launcher might not be utilizing the full potential of your internet speed due to its own settings or limitations. You can try pausing and resuming the download, or even restarting the launcher to see if that helps improve the speed!

I appreciate the advice! I'll give that a shot and see if it makes a difference.

One possible reason for the difference could be that you're comparing different types of speeds. Sometimes download speeds are shown in megabits per second (Mbps), while other times they might be showing bytes per second. It’s important to ensure both readings are in the same units when comparing. Also, the Epic Games Launcher might be measuring the speed of the download itself, while Task Manager reports the overall internet speed. Just double-check those units!

Thanks for the insight! But just to clarify, both the Epic Games Launcher and Task Manager are indeed showing Mbps. So the units are the same.
