Hey everyone! I'm based in the UK and I'm on the hunt for a new GPU, with a budget of just over £400 that I can't exceed. I've been eyeing some second-hand options: the 3080 Ti, 4070, or the 7800 XT. However, I'm also considering the new 9060 XT since I've heard good things about it, but I know it doesn't quite match the power of the other second-hand cards. I'd really appreciate any advice you have!

Out of those options, I’d lean towards the 4070. It’s more efficient than the 3080 Ti, which is a bit of a power hog, using almost twice the energy. I wouldn’t recommend going for the 7000 series AMD cards. If you’re set on new, the 9060 XT is a solid choice but keep in mind it won't outpace the others you're considering.
Just to add, if you're using an AMD processor, you might wonder if matching brands offers any advantages. It's not really significant anymore, but having a GPU that complements your CPU could still help slightly with performance, even if just a little. The extra VRAM can help with future-proofing your setup, though!
If you're focused on pure rasterization, the 7800 XT is probably your best bet. But if you care more about upscaling and ray tracing capabilities, I’d say go for the 4070 instead.
