I recently installed the latest version of Ubuntu Desktop, but after the first reboot, my monitor just goes black and the display stops working. I did have to boot using safe graphics mode during the installation. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your hardware should generally work fine with Ubuntu, so it’s odd that you’re having issues. Are you using integrated graphics or do you have a separate graphics card? That could affect compatibility. Maybe you need to check if drivers are installed or look for any specific settings in BIOS.
If you're using integrated graphics, then compatibility might not be the issue, but it’s worth checking that your drivers are updated. Sometimes, using a different boot mode can also help. Try using the 'nomodeset' boot parameter to see if that helps you get the display working.
