Are My 14600K Temps Too High and How Should I Set Up My Cooler Fans?

Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC featuring an Intel 14600K and a Thermalite Phantom Spirit 120 SE black cooler. I have a couple of concerns:

1. My core temperatures are sitting around 36-43°C while idle, but they jump to 56-86°C during gaming, with occasional spikes up to 97°C. Is this spike concerning, especially when I'm running stress tests like Cinebench where temps can reach 91°C and I've seen peak temperatures of 96°C for the P core and even 100°C for the package?

2. I encountered a small issue while installing the cooler; I couldn't line up the screws perfectly, so the brackets are slightly angled (about 1mm off). Given my current temperatures, should I consider remounting? Also, regarding the cooler setup, the cooler has two heatsinks and two fans. Should I orient the fans to blow in the same direction, or should they face away from each other? I'm a bit anxious about damaging my CPU since there's a decent amount of pressure on the screws holding the cooler down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, it sounds like you've got it set up right with the fans. Just make sure they’re pushing air out. As for remounting, it’s probably best to take everything apart so you can do it properly. Trying to fix it while it’s still installed can be tricky and you might not get it right. Better safe than sorry!

You should have the fans blowing in the same direction, ideally exhausting air out the back of your PC. With the temperature spikes you mentioned, it might be a good idea to remount the cooler. Even if it’s a minor angle, getting it straight can help with consistent cooling.
