Is 95 Degrees Too Hot for My Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

Hey folks! I recently posted about my situation but mentioned the wrong cooler. To clarify, I have the Be Quiet! Pure Rock 3 PRO, which is a dual tower cooler. My CPU temperatures are running between 70-80 degrees while playing CPU-heavy games like Europa Universalis IV, but I've seen peaks up to 95.5 degrees when I had a couple of games running at once, including League of Legends. Should I be worried about these temperatures or is this normal?

I did some testing with Cinebench R23 and scored around 22500, which kept me within safe limits. If you get around the same, you might not need to stress about your temps as long as you improve your fan setup.

Good idea! I’ll run the benchmark and check my performance.

Let me know how it goes!

First off, check your fan setup! It looks like your cooler might be installed backwards. The fans should pull air in from the front and push it out the back. That could definitely contribute to the high temps you're seeing.

Yeah, definitely worth flipping it around! Just make sure you've applied the thermal paste correctly too.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll take a look at that.

Honestly, 95 degrees is pretty much the thermal limit for these chips. AMD designed them to handle it, but if you want to be on the safer side, try flipping your cooler around to improve airflow, and see if that helps.

What temperatures are you usually getting? If you're not hitting 100 degrees, it might be okay, but keep an eye on it.

I’ll definitely monitor it, thanks!

What I did was undervolt my CPU, and that helped keep the temps down. If you’re comfortable with it, give that a go and see if it stabilizes your temperatures without impacting performance too much.

Make sure you used enough thermal paste, and don't forget to remove the sticker on the bottom of the cooler if there is one. Also, are both of your fans connected to the CPU fan header? That could make a big difference.
