Which SSD is Better for OS: NVMe Gen 3 with DRAM or Gen 4 with HMB?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide which SSD to use for my operating system. Right now, I have a 1TB SN770, but I want to add more storage for the OS. My plan is to use the SN770 as a secondary drive and buy a new one solely for the OS. I'm considering options and I'm aware that Gen 4 drives with DRAM are on the pricier side. I'm thinking about getting a Gen 3 drive with DRAM, at least 200-500GB, but I'm curious if it's worth going for a Gen 4 drive with HMB instead. What do you all think?

Honestly, it really depends on what you need. DRAM-equipped SSDs are definitely nice because they improve the overall smoothness of Windows, but they're not absolutely necessary. Modern Gen 4 drives with HMB can close most of the gap, so if you're watching your budget, you might be better off getting the biggest drive you can afford, even if it's Gen 3 with DRAM. That's still going to give you a pretty decent performance for your OS.

That’s the thing I’m stuck on too! Is there a noticeable difference when just using it for the OS? I’m not gaming, just regular use.
