I recently discovered that my laptop doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities, so my mom found an old Bluetooth adapter. I plugged it into my laptop, but I'm hitting a snag trying to connect my PS4 controller. It asks for a pin, and while I've tried common ones like 0000 and 1234, it just says 'paired' but my controller still doesn't work. Is there a way to fix this or disable the pin requirement?

Have you tried resetting the controller? Sometimes it can get caught in a loop if there's a pin issue. Resetting it usually helps.
What kind of Bluetooth adapter do you have? Also, are you definitely using a PS4 controller? Knowing the adapter model could help figure out the issue.
I have no idea what the adapter is, but yes, it’s a PS4 controller for sure.
Have you installed the drivers and software for the Bluetooth adapter? Sometimes that’s necessary for proper functionality with gamepads.
No, I haven’t done that yet. I’ll give it a try!
I did reset it, and that worked! But now I have to remove the device each time I want to connect my controller.
