I'm completely fed up with Windows after experiencing five blue screens this week, and I have no idea what's causing it—Event Viewer just shows "Application Hang" along with some other issues. I'm ready to switch to Linux and I'm considering either CachyOS or Bazzite. I'll still be dual-booting unless I can find suitable alternatives for video editing and drawing software—I'm particularly attached to Clip Studio Paint, and I also do some gaming, mostly single-player titles like Monster Hunter. I have an Nvidia RTX 3080, and I've heard there are some gaming issues on Linux, but I'm willing to deal with that. My typical usage is about 30% gaming, 50% video editing and drawing, and 20% browsing social media. I'd love to hear some advice on which distro would suit me better! I previously asked about Mint vs. Bazzite, but CachyOS was recommended. I'm making the switch today, and even though my only experience with Linux is through my Steam Deck, I appreciate any feedback or questions that might help me out.

If I were you, I'd consider Nobara as well; it's great for creative work and gaming. Just a suggestion!
Have you thought about installing VirtualBox or checking out DistroSea? It could let you try out both CachyOS and Bazzite along with other distros before you commit, so you can see what you like best!
I get you're frustrated, but those blue screens might hint at a hardware problem rather than a software one. Before diving headfirst into Linux, make sure your machine isn’t the source of the troubles. Linux won’t fix a failing component.
Yeah, no kidding. Blue screens aren't common unless something's wrong under the hood.
If you're unsure and want something tried and tested, maybe go with Mint or even Ubuntu. Those have been around long enough to be reliable without too much hassle.
Both CachyOS and Bazzite are solid choices, but for simplicity, I'd recommend Bazzite. It's user-friendly for newcomers.
Surprised to hear people aren’t more into Mint for new users. If you're switching from Windows, Mint is often recommended since it’s user-friendly. But if you're feeling adventurous, CachyOS can be rewarding too, especially if you like to explore further into Linux later on.
Don't overlook Manjaro if you're looking for something easy to set up. It's got a good reputation for creativity and gaming these days. Just my two cents!
Given your focus on video editing and gaming, I'd go with CachyOS. It’s got a good reputation for creativity tasks and gaming.
Don’t forget that DaVinci Resolve works on Linux! Just a heads-up, you might need to convert audio files first for compatibility, but it’s a solid option for video editing.
Honestly, I'm in a similar boat. I've had unexplained issues too. But I'm just so done with Windows; I want to try Linux, and I'll see if the issues persist there.
