Hey everyone! I've been hosting websites and web apps for friends for a long time, but I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I've been using DreamHost for over ten years and currently manage around 30 sites, all without charging my friends. Most of the time, I just set them up and give them credentials to take over. However, I hit a snag last week when one of their new sites filled up all available disk space and crashed my VPS. DreamHost didn't alert me to any issues, and since they had taken away my root access, it was a huge hassle to fix things.
I'm reaching out for recommendations because you all have a good understanding of what works in hosting, monitoring, and deployment. Is there a hosting provider you've found that just works seamlessly? I can set up monitoring and deployment pipelines manually, but honestly, I'm tired and willing to invest in a premium service that can handle basic PHP, Python, or Ruby sites without me having to worry about security or upkeep. I tried Cloudways a couple of years back but not sure how they've evolved since then. My real projects require high availability and database tuning, and I really don't have the brainpower to keep everyone's WordPress and PHP updated anymore. If any of you run a managed service for this, I'd love to hear your experiences!

Have you looked into Dokploy? It's pretty neat; you can containerize your own apps or use their templates. It lets you manage several apps on one server, which could save you some hassle.
We handle all our hosting on our own physical gear located in data centers. It's more work up front, but we get complete control and reliability in return.
I highly recommend BigScoots! They’re still run by the founders, and they personally handle support tickets alongside their staff. Super responsive and reliable. You should definitely check them out!

I hadn't heard of them before. Sounds interesting, I’ll look into it!
