I'm currently using an Intel Core i5 14400 and considering an upgrade to the AM5 platform. I don't play many CPU-intensive games, but when I do, I can feel it holding back my RTX 5070, especially in some GPU-heavy games. Since I'm not planning to upgrade again for a while, I'm particularly eyeing the 14700K, but I'm worried about overheating. The 7700X and 7800X3D are also options on my list. Can anyone explain why L3 cache matters so much? Also, which CPU should I go for? Is the price difference worth it?

You might want to hold off on the upgrade. Your current CPU should generally be fine for the 5070, so there could be other factors at play. Maybe check your system temperatures and usage to pinpoint the lag.
I hear you on that. I only have 16GB of RAM too, but I rarely hit over 14.5GB of usage. I’m also trying to future-proof a bit. I've noticed the CPU hitting 95 degrees in games like Jurassic World Evolution, which definitely sounds like a CPU issue causing the lag. I'll double-check everything though.
