Why Did I Get a Notification About a New Device on FaceTime and iMessage?

I got a notification on my MacBook saying, "New device added to account" and that a new device now has access to FaceTime and iMessage. The thing is, I didn't log in on any new devices. I checked my settings, and there are no new devices listed. Can anyone help clarify what might be happening here?

This is a pretty common issue that can pop up after updating a device. If you've updated your iPhone, MacBook, or even an Apple Watch recently, it might trigger that notification. It's just Apple's way of saying, 'Hey, we noticed a change!'

I haven’t updated any of my devices for a while. The last was a couple of months ago, not recently like you mentioned. So, what gives?

If your iCloud account shows no new devices, it often just means one of your existing devices had a software update. Sometimes, these updates can change the way devices report themselves to the Apple servers, which can lead to notifications like yours. It's usually nothing to worry about!

Are you saying the updates could trigger this kind of notification? Like it’s not an actual new device adding?
