I just bought an e-sports computer from a local school that upgraded their systems. It came with what they called a 'fresh' Windows install, but I'm wondering whether I should be cautious about any old user data still being on the machine. Is it better to do my own Windows installation, or can I trust that the school really wiped it clean? Thanks for the help!

A fresh install should only take about 2 hours, so it's more efficient to just set it up yourself instead of worrying about leftover issues. Just keep in mind that if the previous users had any bans, the hardware ID could be flagged, which might affect you in certain games, but that's probably a rare situation.
You shouldn't have any real problems, but if you're concerned, consider resetting the TPM in the BIOS/UEFI too. Don't just rely on the school's assurance that it's wiped; using your own install media to erase the whole drive is a good practice. Just be sure to delete all partitions and start fresh. It's not foolproof, but it's a solid step to ensure your privacy.
