Hey everyone! I just graduated from high school and I'm gearing up for the SATs and other tests, planning to attend university by fall 2026. In the meantime, I want to earn some money through hackathons, internships, and build a solid portfolio for college. I've just started the Harvard CS50 course and I'm absolutely loving it! However, I'm a bit unsure about what my next steps should be. I'm especially interested in web development and projects related to drones or space tech. I'd really appreciate any guidance on how to get started and what I can do to land good internships or jobs in programming while I work on my projects. Thanks in advance!

While earning money might be tough at first, focus on what you enjoy more: building websites or diving into drone/space tech projects. Look for internships that align with your interests and skills. Build a portfolio or GitHub profile showcasing your work. Just dive in and build whatever excites you! Plus, if you can, try to snag an unpaid freelance gig once you feel more confident. You’re already ahead of many applicants!
I recommend checking out freecodecamp.org! It's a fantastic starting point that will introduce you to various tech fields. By the time you finish, you’ll have a better understanding of what you enjoy and can start to explore further. Good luck!
Just a heads up, you might find it tough to earn money or land internships without formal education in programming. It can be a challenging goal to achieve within a year, but if you’re focused on learning, check out the FAQ for tips. People who study full-time often have a hard time getting internships, so keep that in mind.
Okay, noted. But I’ll try my best to push through, thanks for the reality check!
