I'm currently using an Intel i5 12400 in my PC build which includes a 4070 Super, a Rog Strix B760i motherboard, Gskill Ripjaws M5 32GB RAM, and a 750 SFX power supply in an NR200P case. I'm looking for a safe upgrade path from the i5 12400, especially since I've heard some concerns about degradation issues with the 13th and 14th generation Intel processors even after updates. My main usage is productivity tasks like 3D modeling and rendering, but I also enjoy gaming on the side. I'm considering switching to AMD as well, but the Ryzen 7000 series is quite expensive where I live, including the cost of a new motherboard. Any recommendations?

How about the i7-12700K or the i7-12700KF? Those should give you a good boost without the degradation worries. Just keep your BIOS updated for the best performance!
For a more thorough take, I'd suggest the i5-12700K or the i5-14600K(F). Just a heads up, degradation primarily affects the higher end models like the 13600K and above, but with the right BIOS update, they can be manageable. Intel has had some issues with voltages that can lead to damage, but the i5s are generally more resilient. Just a thought if you are considering AMD - they also had some issues, so keep that in mind too!
You might want to consider sticking with Intel for now. If you go with the i7s, just ensure the BIOS is kept up to date. Plus, the latest chips have rectified some of the earlier problems. As for AMD, the high costs can be a deal-breaker even if their performance is great.
The i5-14600K is essentially your best choice right now. The degradation mostly affected the i7s and i9s, but if you keep your BIOS updated, you should be fine with the 14600K!
Thanks! Glad to know the 14600K is a safer option.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards the i7-12. Definitely sounds solid!
