I was cleaning up some unnecessary files while using a Live session on my computer, and suddenly my taskbar and wallpaper became unclickable. After going back to Windows, I found that my Downloads folder shows an 'location unavailable' error. Is there any way to recover the files now that I'm out of the live session?

Just a heads up: accessing your Windows partition via Linux can sometimes lead to accidental deletions that you wouldn’t normally face in Windows. It might be worth checking if the shortcut to your Downloads folder can be reassigned to the correct location, but be careful going forward!
You might be able to recover your files if you connect your hard drive as a secondary drive to another computer. From there, you can try using recovery software that works with deleted files, but there's mixed success with it, so keep your expectations in check.
It sounds like you're dealing with a classic case of what happens in a Live session stays in a Live session. Unfortunately, once you end that session, any changes or files you had there are typically lost forever.
