Hi everyone! I'm considering building a new PC and really need some feedback on my planned setup. I'm leaning towards an Intel Core i7 but am open to suggestions about which generation offers the best value for the price. I'm also looking at pairing it with an RTX 3050. My primary use will be GIS and georeferencing tasks, along with some gaming and general study-related multitasking.
Since I'm not super experienced with building PCs, I would love recommendations for a compatible motherboard, power supply unit (PSU), RAM, and case that would work well with this combination. Additionally, if you have any favorite peripherals like monitors, keyboards, or mice that balance performance and cost, I would appreciate those suggestions too. Thanks a lot in advance!

Totally agree with the AMD recommendation! They’re leading the way right now. Just a heads-up, it’s crucial not to skimp on the PSU; invest in a high-quality unit from a well-reviewed brand to ensure your system is stable.
You might want to reconsider the Intel CPU route. These days, AMD offers much better performance, especially for the price. The Intel i3 and i5 models from the last few generations are cheaper but if you’re set on an i7, I’d strongly suggest looking into AMD alternatives. Also, regarding the GPU, the RTX 3050 isn’t the best choice; it’s quite limited. For a better experience, consider stepping up to an RTX 3060 for solid performance.
What budget are you working with? Always a good starting point for recommendations!
I'm looking at around $1500 to $1700 for the whole build.
Hi! Thanks for your reply. Could you also suggest a good AMD CPU option and a better GPU that would fit well for my use case (mainly GIS/georeferencing, some gaming, and multitasking)? I'd really appreciate it!
