Is My Family/Office PC Build Any Good?

I'm currently using an old Core i5 4570 with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, and I feel it's time for an upgrade. I primarily work with office applications, and occasionally do some basic video and photo editing. My family also uses the PC for light gaming, schoolwork, and other office tasks. I'm not looking to build anything extravagant, but I do want a setup that can handle the future demands of technology better than my current one. I've put together a proposed build, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it:

- **Processor**: AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, 6x 4300 MHz
- **CPU Cooler**: Deepcool Gammaxx C40, max. 130W TDP
- **Mainboard**: MSI Pro B840-P WIFI
- **RAM**: 32 GB DDR5 (1x 32 GB), 5600 MHz, Kingston Fury Beast
- **M.2 SSD**: 1x 1000 GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD MSI Spatium M450
- **Power Supply**: 850W be quiet! System Power 11 M
- **HDD**: 2x 8TB Seagate EXOS (these are from another PC)

Since I've been out of the PC building game for a while, I appreciate any honest feedback you can give me!

What country are you building in, and what's your budget? It sounds like you've got a solid list, but that’s important for tailoring advice!

Got it! Just so you know, the EXOS drives are coming from a different project, and I won’t factor them into the budget.

I’m in Germany, and I'm trying to stay under 650€.

I've been out of the loop too, but one thing I noticed is you'd be better off with 2x16GB RAM sticks instead of 1x32GB. Dual channel will give you better performance! 👍

Noted, thank you!

You don't actually need a separate CPU cooler for the 8600G; the stock cooler should suffice. However, I suggest upgrading your motherboard from the B840 to at least a B850. The B840 is pretty basic and might limit your options if you decide to upgrade the CPU in the future.

Thank you! I’ll look into a better motherboard. Do you have a recommendation?

Definitely consider using a 2x16GB RAM setup for dual-channel, especially since you'll be using integrated graphics. If you can swing it, opt for a 6000 MHz RAM kit instead of 5600 MHz for better speed. Also, an 850W power supply seems a bit overkill unless you're planning to fit a powerful GPU down the line. A 700W might be more budget-friendly while still allowing for future upgrades.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into a different PSU and switch out the RAM.
