I recently upgraded my computer and forgot to buy a screw for my M.2 SSD. I'm wondering if it's safe to use it for a day while laying the computer on its side to finish reinstalling Windows and my games until I can get a screw tomorrow. Is this okay?

You can probably get away with it for a day by laying your PC on its side. The worst that could happen is the SSD comes loose, and since it’s not under heavy load right now, you should be fine. Just be aware that if it does come loose while you're using it, you might run into some issues.
Years ago, I had one of my SSDs running without a screw for a while. I ended up taping it down, and it survived just fine! It’s definitely better to secure it if you can, though.
If you want to be extra cautious, you can tape the SSD down. A bit of painter’s tape should work fine to keep it secure until you get the screw. Just make sure it’s laid flat against the motherboard.
Yep, painter’s tape is a great idea! It's gentle enough not to leave a residue.

Isn't it annoying how these SSDs don’t always come with screws? I had the same problem when I upgraded!
