What Linux Distro Should I Choose for Gaming and Work?

I'm considering switching to Linux because I'm really tired of Windows. I have an older PC equipped with a GTX 1080, which I use mainly for gaming, but I also need it for work-related tasks. I've done some research, and I came across various distributions that might fit my needs. Specifically, I'm looking for a distro that balances gaming performance with stability for work. I'd love some advice on which one to install!

I recommend Nobara since you have an NVIDIA GPU; it’s specifically tweaked for gaming. Fedora is also a solid choice if you want something a bit more general. Just make sure your machine can run 64-bit!

What's the main difference between Nobara and Pop!_OS for NVIDIA users?

Just a heads up—the 1080 might not perform as well as it does on Windows. There can be issues with NVIDIA drivers, and sometimes suspend doesn’t work properly. That said, if I had to pick, I'd still say go for Nobara first, it's been quite solid for gaming.

I’m using a GTX 1080 on Kubuntu and haven't faced the performance issues you've mentioned. Most of my games run smoothly!
