Is a 650W PSU Enough for a Used 3080 Ti with Ryzen 7 5800X?

I'm considering buying a used 3080 Ti to pair with my Ryzen 7 5800X, and I have a 650W PSU. I know that it's going to be right on the edge, but will it handle the load without issues? I'm mostly worried about stability and any potential risks. Any thoughts?

If you have a high-quality PSU, a 650W unit might just be fine for your setup, especially with a 3080 Ti. It's crucial that it can deliver stable power.

Would an EVGA 80+ Gold be considered a high-quality PSU?

A 650W should generally be sufficient. You likely won't hit 600W, but keep in mind the 3080 can have random power spikes that push the limits.

That's what I was thinking too! I've heard about those power spikes that could hit the 650 limit.

Honestly, 650W is on the lower end; it might run but could lead to instability. If your PSU is good quality, it may work, but keep an eye on the power draw.

Does an EVGA 80+ Gold count as good enough?

I wouldn't take the risk. Go for a higher wattage PSU if you can. Cards like the 3080 tend to overclock, which can stress your PSU more than you'd think, especially with your CPU boosting too.

I get what you're saying. I'm just trying to figure out if I can make it work without causing any permanent damage.
