Is my Ryzen 5700X3D safe to use on a B450 with a 5080 GPU upgrade?

Hey everyone! I'm running a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and using a Noctua NH-U12S cooler. I also have 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (though I know faster RAM would be better). I'm planning to upgrade my PSU to 1000W to support future upgrades, especially with the upcoming AM6 platform, as well as buying a 5080 GPU. I have a 1440p 144Hz monitor and want to max out my graphics settings while keeping good FPS. I've been reading that there might be performance loss with PCIe 3.0 versus 5.0, but I'm aware of that. My concern comes from a friend who said that using a more powerful GPU could stress my CPU and potentially damage my motherboard's VRMs since it's older. I've seen mixed opinions online about running a 5080 on a B450. Should I be worried about damaging my setup, or is it worth waiting for a full upgrade? Any advice from those who know about this would be greatly appreciated!

Your friend clearly doesn’t understand these systems. The 5080 will be perfectly fine on a B450. While you do miss out on PCIe 4.0, for most applications, and especially gaming, it won't be a huge deal. Don’t stress about the VRMs; they’re designed to handle this kind of setup without frying. Just focus on optimizing your system and enjoy your gaming!
