I'm considering building a new PC and I'm particularly interested in the Intel i5-14600K. Can anyone tell me if it's safe to use now, especially after the recent BIOS updates? I've heard about some issues with previous generations, so I'm keen to know if the microcode has been improved enough to reassure me before making my purchase.

I've been using my Intel 14900KS for a year without any issues, post-BIOS updates. I even put it through the wringer with a custom cooling setup. Still, if I had to redo my choice, I'd probably go for AMD. The power demands of the 14600K could be overkill for most users!
It's hard to say for sure. The previous oxidation issues still leave a bad taste, and I’d be worried about long-term reliability. After how Intel handled things, I decided to switch to AMD myself.
From what I've read, there were two main issues: a software glitch, which is fixed, and a more severe hardware problem from the initial chip batches. If you're not getting one from that early batch, you should be fine. Though, if you're still uncertain, the 9600X might be a safer bet, albeit at a higher cost.
Honestly, it's a bit of a gamble. There’s been a lot of rumors and misinformation regarding Intel's issues. I’d personally lean towards a used 12th-gen or an AMD setup instead for better reliability.
If you want reliability, consider going with an AMD setup. The AM5 platform seems to be getting a lot of praise. It might save you some hassle down the line!

Thanks! I was torn between the i5-14600K and the 9600X because I multitask a lot. Looks like I’ll go with the 9600X now.
