What Can I Do About My iPhone 15 Pro Max Battery Issues if Apple Won’t Help?

Hey everyone! I bought my iPhone 15 Pro Max right on launch day, super excited about it, but things quickly went downhill. From day one, the phone heated up like crazy, and I've had to deal with a rapidly draining battery. I have AppleCare Plus, so I contacted Apple several times, but they insist everything passes their tests and refuse to fix it. I even went to an Apple Store, where a senior employee admitted that many others are having similar issues, yet again they wouldn't repair mine because it passed their diagnostic checks.

Now, with about 600 charging cycles on it, the battery barely lasts a few hours, and despite consulting multiple senior advisors, they've all said there's nothing they can do as long as it's passing tests. I'm at my wit's end and can't afford to buy a new phone. Is there any way to escalate this issue? What are my options?

Have you thought about doing a complete restore and setting it up as new? Sometimes that can fix issues that aren’t hardware related. Just be sure to set it up without restoring from a backup, as that can bring back any bugs.

I remember when I took mine to an Apple Store, they did that for me too, but it didn’t help. They even set me up with a beta version to gather more data, but I still faced issues.

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I have the same model, and while mine runs a bit hot, it hasn’t been as bad as yours. With AppleCare, you should definitely be getting a replacement battery for free if it's under warranty. Have you tried reaching out again or escalating to a manager? Sometimes, having them hear your story directly can help.

Yeah, my wife has the same model and doesn't have any heating issues, which makes it even more puzzling for you. I totally agree with reaching out to someone higher up in Apple’s support chain.

If all else fails, maybe consider claiming liquid damage to swap out your phone under AppleCare+. Although it’s a bit tricky, warranty repairs tend to go strictly by the results of tests. Might be worth a try!

They'd have me pay a hefty fee here in Canada for that! After paying for AppleCare since day one, I’m not eager to fork over more cash.

You might want to think about trading in the iPhone for the 17 model. Just make sure you get them to run diagnostics first to confirm everything passes. I heard the 17 has better cooling tech to avoid heating issues.

According to Apple’s site, iPhone 15 batteries should retain 80% capacity at 1000 full cycles. Since yours is already down to 81% health with fewer cycles, you might have a case. Keep pushing the point that the battery health is below what they advertise, especially if it's affecting performance.

That’s a good point! It’s definitely not fair that the battery is degrading faster than expected due to the overheating problems Apple is aware of. You should leverage that in your discussions with them.
