Is My Ryzen 7 3700X CPU Holding Me Back for 4K Gaming?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my gaming rig and need some advice. I currently have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU paired with an AMD Radeon RX 5700X graphics card, and I have 32GB of RAM. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to either a Radeon RX 9070 or an NVIDIA RTX 5070. My main question is: will my CPU be a bottleneck for gaming at 4K resolution, or do I need to consider moving to something like the Ryzen 7 5800X? I really want to avoid switching to AM5 unless necessary, and the 5800X is quite affordable at around €140. Thanks in advance!

Whether your CPU is a bottleneck depends a lot on the games you play. Generally, you should be fine with the 3700X, but I recommend upgrading your GPU first. Once you see how it performs, then you can assess if you need a new CPU.

Just a heads up, the RX 9070 and RTX 5070 aren't exactly strong contenders for 4K gaming, particularly the 5070. The 3700X might suffice at 4K, but at 1440p, it could bottleneck your performance—especially in terms of lower framerates compared to newer CPUs. Just be mindful!

Good to know! Would the RX 9070 XT be a better investment for 4K gaming, considering it's an extra €80?
